Opinionated, so pick what you think makes sense.

Disclaimer: I’m not an expert in interviewing, coding, or software engineering (just someone who loves coding), so please never trust the content in this post (or any suggestions from the internet probably) without conducting research and experiments.

Background story

Recently I’ve been helping a family member prepare coding interviews where some of my suggestions conflict with the ones from the internet.

After a few constructive discussions, we agreed that some are more effective than their online counterparts. Meanwhile, the rest remain inconclusive.

I thought it would be good to share them to get more opinions and hopefully provide different perspectives for interviewees looking for ideas.

My path to software engineer

Techniques are effective in specific setups. Suggestions without context are irrelevant, so here is a brief background about my developer career:

  • I started coding work before any software education (I was poor).
  • My software education was backward: I started with complex projects and learned the basics as needed.
